Our Expressions Children's Theater provides a reputable educational program for students with an interest in Musical Theater. Please see our class descriptions to find the class that best fits your child!
MINI STARS (4-6 years old)
Our Mini Stars program will introduce our youngest students to the world of theater. There will be a combination of fun, imagination, and structured learning. The emphasis will be on ensemble performing. The students will gain basic techniques in acting and singing while having a blast in a supportive, nurturing environment. These children do not need to read but will need to practice memorization of songs from CDs, and parents need to assist in learning lines. This program will have observation times throughout the year, and the students will have one short staged performance at the Carnegie Theater in Covington.
KIDS CENTER STAGE (7-10 years old)
Our Kids Center Stage class is the perfect step up from our Mini Stars program. Kids in this program will continue to explore the world of theater, developing both individual and ensemble skills in acting, vocal, and basic dance movement. This program will provide a more challenging, yet developmentally appropriate experience in theater. It will incorporate a higher level of responsibility, perfect for the young performer. These students need to be able to read and will be required to memorize material. This program will hold observation times throughout the year and be auditioning for roles in a full-staged Kid/Jr. production at the Carnegie Theater in Covington.
JR. PLAYERS (10 years old and up)
This program will help identify, strengthen, and enhance each student's skills in acting, vocal, and movement. This program will further develop self-expression, while building self-esteem. This program will also offer more intense work in staging, audition preparation, costuming and make-up. This class requires quick memorization of material and being prepared for class from week to week. These students will have an observation week in the fall and be auditioning in the winter for roles in a full-staged Jr. production at the Carnegie Theater in Covington. They will also participate in a staged spring showcase at EDT where students will perform monologues, vocal solos/duets, and ensemble work to finish the season with a bang!
